IDENTITY THEFT WHAT IT MEANS TO YOU!
Our speaker at the July meeting was Dorothea "Dottie" Cole from
Merrill
Lynch, she gave a great presentation on "IDENTIY THEFT".
In some areas of the insurance industry, people probably are "up to
their ears"
with ID Theft programs - but many of us in NEIAHU don't deal in markets
where
this type of information is often presented.
But Dottie's presentation looked at the "personal" side of the ID Theft
issue!
We may be bombarded in the industry with how to "protect the client's
identity", but we do not know that much about protecting our own.
Dottie's presentation was "interactive" and everyone participated - if
only to get
"sweets" to take away the "bad taste" of identity theft.
The comments from the members after the meeting ranged from: "Wow! I
knew about shredding my papers, but I never thought about the mail I put
out" to "I never knew that https meant that it was a secure site".
Thinking "outside" of the box is good for all us - whether in business
or in our personal lives!
